Do you know how God created the world? He spoke it into existence. With words, He brought forth light, land, and life. It's a powerful reminder of the immense influence our words can have in shaping our reality. Today, I want to share with you a journey inspired by words that transformed my life: "I am Strong, Smart, and Beautiful."
A while back, I had the privilege of listening to a mentor talk about something he taught his daughters to do daily. He encouraged them to stand in front of a mirror every day and speak those empowering words to themselves. "I am Strong, Smart, and Beautiful." The idea intrigued me, and I decided to give it a shot.
For the first few days, it felt a bit awkward. Looking into my own eyes and uttering those words felt strange. But as the days went on, something incredible began to happen. On the seventh day, it clicked. I stared into my reflection, repeated those words, and suddenly, it felt genuine. The affirmation began to seep into my heart, and I started to view myself through a different lens.
Not only did my self-perception change, but my entire outlook on life shifted. I began to approach challenges with a newfound strength. I tackled problems with the belief that I was capable and resilient. My mind opened up to possibilities I had once doubted, and I found myself embracing opportunities I would have shied away from before.
As the days turned into weeks and my journey with the affirmation "I am Strong, Smart, and Beautiful" deepened, I began to search for a way to make those words a permanent reminder. I wanted something that would be with me always, serving as a visual anchor in moments of self-doubt and a celebration of my growth.
That's when the idea of a tattoo emerged. The thought of etching "You are S.S.B." onto my arm resonated deeply with me. It was more than just ink on skin; it was a testament to my journey of self-discovery, faith, and resilience. Having those words in a place where I could see them every day felt like carrying a piece of God's truth and love with me wherever I went.
This tattoo isn't just a decoration; it's a symbol of my journey. It's a reminder that my identity is rooted in the truth of God's creation. It's a tribute to the growth that emerged from hardship and the unwavering faith that carried me through. And it's a celebration of the community of support and love that surrounds me, both from God and the people He's placed in my life.
However, this year brought about unexpected hardships, making me confront the most broken version of myself. Suddenly, those six words felt distant and unattainable. Doubts crept in, and I questioned my strength, wisdom, and beauty. In the depths of my struggle, I realized that I needed to start the process all over again. Just as God's creations went through periods of renewal, so did I.
Repeating those words to my reflection became an act of faith. It was a declaration of trust in God's plan for me, even when I couldn't see it clearly. Each day, those words acted as a lifeline, pulling me out of despair and reminding me of my inherent worth as a child of God.
Looking back now, I'm astounded by the progress I've made. That broken version of myself is no longer the person I see in the mirror. I'm proud of the resilience that carried me through, the growth that emerged from the struggle, and the unwavering faith that sustained me. I thank God for allowing me to meet that version of myself, for it was in that challenging time that my relationship with Him grew stronger than ever.
Through this journey, I've also learned the importance of the company we keep. God places people in our lives who mirror His love, grace, and encouragement. I've surrounded myself with those who uplift and inspire, who remind me of my strength, wisdom, and beauty when I falter in my belief.
God's transformative power is astounding. He took six simple words and turned them into a lifeline during my darkest moments. He reshaped my self-perception, my outlook on life, and my connection with Him. Readers, never underestimate the influence of words, especially the ones you speak to yourself. In your moments of doubt, repeat these words: "I am Strong, Smart, and Beautiful." Let them be a testament to God's hand in shaping you into who you are meant to be.
All the best,
