The Junkyard Review

Hey there, lovely readers! Today, I'm absolutely thrilled to share my recent fitness escapade – a journey into the heart of The Junkyard Fitness. If you're on the hunt for a workout that's as unique as it is effective, this review is a must-read.

The Junkyard Fitness Unveiled

So, what exactly is The Junkyard Fitness? Well, it's not your typical gym or fitness studio; it's a high-energy, innovative, and downright exhilarating fitness experience. It combines Junkyard Music Technology with Treadmills, Cycles, Rowers and Functional Training. The Junkyard Fitness lives up to its name, as it combines elements of hardcore training with an industrial, warehouse-like setting. This isn't your grandma's gym – it's an all-out assault on your limits.

A Workout for Every Day of the Week

The Junkyard Fitness offers a workout schedule that's as diverse as it is challenging. Each day focuses on different aspects of fitness, ensuring a well-rounded and effective regimen. Here's a glimpse into what I experienced on my leg day:

  1. Row ergs and Dumbbell Deadlifts: We kicked things off with seven minutes on the row ergs, setting the tone with a heavy cardio warm-up. Just when I thought I had my bearings, we transitioned seamlessly into dumbbell deadlifts, engaging those leg muscles from the get-go. The goal was to hit 1,500 meters in the time set.

  2. Treadmill and Banded Shuffles: The real surprise came when we hit the treadmill. We cranked up the incline to 6 and did banded shuffles at a speed of 1, followed by a backpedal at a speed of 2. This combination was a game-changer, pushing my cardio threshold to new heights.

  3. Kettlebell Bulgarian Split Squats: After catching our breath, it was time to attack those leg muscles again. We dove into kettlebell Bulgarian split squats, an exercise that tested not only my strength but also my balance.

  4. Deadlifts and Squats: The intensity didn't let up as we transitioned into deadlifts and squats. The seamless flow from one exercise to the next kept the energy high and the sweat flowing.

  5. Bike and Banded Partner Pulls: Finally, we hit the bikes for 500 meters before transitioning to banded partner pulls forwards and backwards. The back-and-forth between the bike and pulls added an exciting element of teamwork and competition.

Colors and Timing: The Unique Touch

One thing that sets The Junkyard Fitness apart is its innovative use of lighting. The lighting changes color throughout the workout, signifying different intensity levels. It's like a visual cue that keeps you on your toes and adds a whole new dimension to the experience. If the room lights up green, you are at your pace zone. The goal is to work 60%-70% of your max effort. When the room lights up red, you are in your push zone. The goal is to work 80%-90% of your max effort. Now my favorite color, blue. When blue pops up, you are now in your stretch zone. It was really cool working and knowing when to go hard and when to just pace myself to make it through the duration of the workout.

As for timing, The Junkyard Fitness has a cool twist – they use music to keep the workout on track. The rhythm and tempo of the songs serve as a timer, ensuring that each exercise and transition is perfectly synced with the beat. It's an ingenious way to keep everyone moving together.

My Verdict: An Absolute Winner

In a nutshell, my first experience at The Junkyard Fitness was nothing short of amazing. It was different from what I expected in the best possible way – a heavy cardio-based workout that pushed my boundaries and left me feeling invigorated.

The vibe in the warehouse-style gym was electric, and the sense of community and support was palpable. I left The Junkyard Fitness with a rush of endorphins and a newfound appreciation for innovative and challenging workouts.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, without a doubt! If you're looking to shake up your fitness routine, embrace the unconventional, and have a blast while working up a sweat, The Junkyard Fitness is the place to be. I might just see you there, as I'm considering making it a part of my fitness journey alongside my beloved F45.
