I got a puppy!! Everything I bought before I got Cooper!

Hey there, readers! Today's blog post is all about a new chapter in my life that has filled my days with boundless joy and endless tail wags – welcoming my adorable Aussie-Doodle pup, Cooper, into my heart and home. As a proud new puppy parent, I thought it'd be great to share my top 20 must-have items that made the transition smoother for both of us.

Must-Have Puppy Essentials:

1. Leash and Collar Combo: Cooper's stylish leash and collar set not only kept him safe during walks but also made him the most fashionable pup. This set was perfect because it came with the harness, collar, and leash! I also got him a personalized Dog Tag!

2. Carrying Crate: A game-changer for traveling as a puppy! I brought him home in this. It was his space, safe and secure! When I take him out in public, I put him it, and he LOVES it!

3.  Cozy Crate: A safe haven for Cooper to retreat to, his cozy crate became his little den where he could rest and feel secure. I put a blanket in there since I knew he would have accidents. That way it was super easy to wash! He LOVES his crate!

4. Crate Cover: This was a game changer! This allowed it to be dark for him during the day and at night! When he would nap, creating a cozy dark environment was helpful so he would fall asleep faster! At night it helps from light outside the windows shining in.

5. Comfy Bed: A plush bed where Cooper could curl up after a day of adventures. His snoozes were even cuter than I could have imagined! I left this in the living room, and he sleeps in it or chills during the day!

6. Puppy Heartbeat Sleeping Aid: This was a MUST. The breeder recommended it and now I am recommending it. Puppies struggle when separated from their families so this heartbeat made it feel like he was near his mom or siblings at night. It is his favorite and he sleeps with it every night!

7. Dog Food: Investing in high-quality dog food was a priority to ensure Cooper's health and growth. The breeder fed him Purina Puppy Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Puppy Food with Probiotics, Salmon & Rice Formula. I recommend getting the big bag because Cooper went through food fast!

8. Water Bowl: This water bowl was an amazing investment! He would get water all in his chin fur, so this bowl helped with that! He also loved sticking his face and getting his ears in the water, so this helped with the mess.

9. Food Bowl: Food bowl is an obvious must have. I'm all about having cute things so I chose this bowl!

10. Fable: Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise. This was more on the expensive side, but it was one of the best investments. Food goes in it and comes out of the little circle. He has to play with it for food to come out. This kept him occupied and gave me time to do things! It takes him about 30 minutes to finish his food and would tire him out!

11. Dog Food Container: This was super helpful, so I have somewhere to store the dog food instead of leaving it in the bag!

12. Chew Toys Galore: Puppies love to chew, and I made sure to stock up on a variety of chew toys to keep Cooper entertained while sparing my shoes. I got WAY too many toys, but my pup was happy, so I was happy!

13. Potty Pad: For those early days of potty training, these pads were a lifesaver, saving my floors from mishaps. I really train potting outside, but I had these for accidents!

14. Poop Bags: If you live in an apartment like I do or love to take your pup in public, you will need poop bags!

15. Dog Shampoo: Regular grooming sessions helped Cooper get used to the process and kept his gorgeous coat in tip-top shape. Trust me you need to invest in dog shampoo! Especially early on before your pup can go to the groomer.

16. Dog Comb: I didn't want Cooper to get tangled at all and get him used to grooming so this was a cheap easy option! Now he loves it!

17. Wipes: These were a must investment. If he has poop on his fur or his paws are dirty, instead of having to give him a bath, I just use the wipes!

18. Bookbag: This was a must buy! This cute bookbag came with two storage containers and two bowls. I take this when I take Cooper anywhere with me. I keep wipes, toys, a water bottle, and food with me in the bag! It is super convenient!

19.Oral Hygiene Chews: These were recommended to me, and Cooper loves them! They help with Oral Hygiene for the pup! Also keeps him entertained!

20. Oxyfresh Water Additive and Dental Kit: Puppy breath can be smelly, so this is what I bought! The water additive, I would put in his water whenever I refilled it. Once a week I would use the toothpaste and brush so he can get used to the feel!

Welcoming Cooper into my life has been a journey filled with love, laughter, and a few surprise learnings. The puppy essentials that made the cut have truly transformed our days together, and the not-so-much-used items have brought their fair share of chuckles.

So there you have it, my friends – a peek into my puppy preparation adventure. If you're about to welcome a furry friend into your life, remember that every pup is unique. Tailor your preparations to their personality, and don't be surprised if your pup has their own ideas about what's essential!

Until next time, keep wagging those tails and embracing the joy of furry companionship.

Paws and love!

All the best,

Payton Duncan
